Why take a two-day course?

More people than ever are looking to obtain their motorcycle permit and license in Maine. The traditional method to do this is to attend an eight hour permit course; after passing that, you are on your own to find a motorcycle and teach yourself the basics of riding while on public roads. Once you are comfortable, you request a road test from the BMV and, if you pass, you will then receive your license.

By taking a two-day course through Motorcycle One Stop Riding School, you'll bypass this lengthy and sometimes dangerous process entirely.  In just two days, people of all motorcycle riding experience levels (even those who have never been on a motorcycle before) are trained in the fundamentals of motorcycle riding in a closed (and safe) environment.  Once the instructors aare finished teaching these fundamentals, you will be asked to complete a written test and a motorcycle skills evaluation. Upon successful completion of these two evaluations, you will receive a course completion certificate which you will need to bring to your local BMV where they will issue your motorcycle license to you.

Our school's rider coaches and our course are certified through the State of Maine and the internationally recognized Motorcycle Safety Foundation (MSF).  Additional information about MSF is available online at www.msf-usa.org.

The Newport Course

The course is designed for those people who have never ridden a motorcycle before, or those people who have limited riding experience. The goal of the course is to prepare you, through the practice and repetition of these 17 exercises, to meet the challenges that come with riding a motorcycle. The final portion of the two-day course is to demonstrate that you understand the fundamentals of motorcycle riding by completing a written test and an on-motorcycle skills evaluation. Following the successful completion of these two evaluations, you will receive a completion certification which you will need to present to your local Maine Bureau of Motor Vehicles' office where they will issue you your motorcycle license.
